2025 Study Group Workshop
The Three Mental Non-Virtues and Purification Practices

We warmly invite you to this year’s Annual Study Group Seminar, to be held on Sunday, 24th August.

The theme for this year's seminar is: “The Three Mental Non-Virtues and Purification Practices”

  • Covetousness

  • Harmful Intent

  • Wrong View

  • Purification Practices

These core topics have recently been the subject of strong emphasis in our Tuesday night teachings by our esteemed teacher, Venerable Geshe Doga, offering us a valuable opportunity to go deeper into these areas of study and practice.

The seminar will be divided into four sessions, each focusing on one of the topics above. Participants are encouraged to reflect on which theme resonates most and enroll in the corresponding group. Team leaders for each group will be announced soon.

As preparation, we recommend using Geshe Doga’s teaching transcripts and The Lamrim Chenmo as excellent starting points for reflection and discussion.

There is a $15 lunch, please click accordingly in the registration form if you want to have lunch.

We look forward to a day of learning, insight, and Dharma connection together.

For further information please email spc@tarainstitute.org.au

(There are 2 commitments for Students in the Geshe Doga's Tuesday night Study group - to attend the Annual Study Group Seminar and the Cleaning Bee of the Gompa / Meditation Hall at Tara Institute)

How to use Vajrasattva Practice to Purify Negativities

2025 August One Day Course

Purifying negative karma makes it much easier to attain liberation and actualize the path to enlightenment. It also decreases our suffering and any obstacles that might arise. Purifying negative karma with the four powers means that we won’t have to experience the many eons of suffering in the lower realms that result from not purifying even one negative karma, and we won’t have to experience again and again without end the four suffering results that arise from each unpurified negative karma.

Self-Practice Programme

White Tara Practice

At the completion of the 3000 recitations of the Golden Light Sutra in May 2025, the students at Tara Institute requested His Holiness the Dalai Lama to advise what practice to do for the long life and good health of both His Holiness the Dalai Lama
and Venerable Geshe Doga.

Rejoice, students of Geshe Doga can now practice the following:

  • White Tara Long Life Sadhana at home or group practice days-

o The White Tara Sadhana group practice dates will be announced regularly throughout 2025 and will continue to be shared each year through 2028

  • White Tara Mantra –

o Goal is 10 million mantras by July 2028

Tibetan Community Prayers
for the Tibet Earthquake

Organised by Geshe Lobsang on behalf of the Tibetan Community of Victoria and Tara Institute,  a prayer session was held at Tara Institute on Sunday 12 January for over 200 Tibetans from our local community. This was for the recent earthquake that struck Eastern Tibet, particularly in the Tringri region, which has claimed the lives of at least 126 Tibetans, with 337 more injured so far. This devastating event brought immense sorrow to the Tibetan community.
The prayer session honored the memory of our Tibetan brothers and sisters who lost their lives and to send collective prayers for the speedy recovery of those who are injured.

Lama Zopa said: My point here is for you to understand what we are doing and what you are helping with. This is so that you can rejoice. It really is unbelievable, incredible, what you are helping with, and this creates so much benefit for the world and for sentient beings. This actually creates the cause to liberate so many beings. This is an incredible opportunity for you to rejoice, and if you rejoice and then dedicate the merits, it is amazing.
