Sutra Recitation

In general, the recitation of Mahayana sutras is one of the six Dharma practices recommended for purification. Shakyamuni Buddha taught these sutras in order for us to generate realisations of the path to enlightenment. Reciting the sutras with a concentrated mind is important. When we recite in this way, we will be able to place strong imprints of the Buddha’s teachings in our minds. Through the recitation of sutras, we are also using our speech as a means for the teachings of the Buddha to continue for the benefit of sentient beings. While reciting the sutras, we can clearly feel the Buddha's infinite kindness. The merits generated by practising with a group far outweigh the merits we accumulate by practising on our own. Thus, reciting a sutra with others is highly recommended.

The Golden Light Sutra

Lama Zopa Rinpoche explains, "The holy Sutra of Golden Light is the king of the sutras. It is extremely powerful and fulfils the wishes, as well as all the peace and happiness, of all sentient beings, up to enlightenment. It is also powerful for world peace, your own protection and the protection of your country and the world. Also, it has great healing power for people in the country, even if only one person reads it.

I am offering my suggestion for people who desire peace for themselves and for others. This is the spiritual, or dharma, way to bring peace that doesn't require you to harm others, doesn't require you to criticise others or even to demonstrate against others, yet it can accomplish peace. So I hope some people will read this text, Buddhists and even non-Buddhists who desire world peace."

We welcome you to join our group recitation as we usher in the golden light of peace.

The Sanghata Sutra

Unlike other sutras, the Sanghata Sutra is unique in that it is a teaching where Shakyamuni Buddha described how he himself had heard the sutra from a previous Buddha. The Sanghata Sutra is a Mahayana Buddhist scripture recorded in Sanskrit. It is one of a special set of sutras called dharma-paryayas that serve to transform the minds of those who hear or recite them.

While reciting the sutra, you will find yourself drawn into an amazing literary expedition, full of anecdotes and fascinating discoveries. Most important of all, reciting the Sanghata Sutra is an incredibly easy way to purify our karmic obscurations and accumulate inconceivable merits.

Embark on this meritorious venture and experience the beneficial effects of reciting the Sanghata Sutra.

Dharma Quote

" Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,
but to be fearless in facing them.
Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain,
but for the heart to conquer it.
Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved,
but for the patience to win my freedom. "

Shantideva, The Way of the Bodhisattva
